Matthias organises, devises and directs opera workshops for schools and opera companies.

Education workshops are an introduction to music theatre and opera with the main themes of a particular work being investigated in a playful way via physical exercises, role play, music making, singing and acting.

Typically a workshop team consists of myself as the director, an opera singer and a pianist but the team can be varied with a choreographer or designer, depending on the planned emphasis.

Each workshop includes of a forum for questioning the professionals on all aspects of their work.

Workshops can last from a couple of hours to a few days, even resulting in a performance in front of an audience.

Participants will always be invited and encouraged to watch a professional production of the opera the workshop was based on.

Matthias has directed workshops for children of all age groups, some of them catering for whole families or children with learning difficulties.

Workshops can either be set up via an opera company or an arts organisation, or directly by myself.
